Century Grand pt. 1
As I've been doing research on places with non-alcoholic options already available on their menus, I came across a place called Century Grand. Inside there are 3 different experiences. I want to be able to do all 3 at some point.
Last Sunday's adventure consists of trying out Undertow, the 90 minute "nautical-inspired" drinking experience. They do NOT serve food of any kind so make sure you come full but thirsty.
A friend and I booked our reservation online (recommended but not required) at $20 per person, but that deposit went towards our tab at the end. We chose the porthole seats which consisted of candlelit "window" seats that allowed us to witness the raging storm our ship was sailing through. There is a chilly mist in the air, and if you're like me, who runs cold, make sure to bring a jacket. The speakers above our heads also made us feel like we were in the cabin of a ship out at sea, including the sounds of creaking floors, crashing waves, rain and wind.
Once you look over the book-like menu, there are tons of drink options, but if you're specifically looking for booze-free alternatives you will find yourself near the back. They had 3 options: passion fruit, coconut, and strawberry.
You might think they were all super sweet, but that was not the case. Each creative cocktail was thought out and had a unique flavor palette. The Passion Fruit "cocktail" also included aperitivo syrup, pineapple juice, lemon juice, lime juice, and exotic spices. It had a deep sour flavor.
The Coconut option also had Chinese 5 spice, pineapple juice, orange juice, basil, and bitters. It had a sweet but complex coconut flavor.
The final beverage included Strawberry, spiced grapefruit cordial, lemon juice, lime juice, mint, and sparkling water. It was probably my favorite, although they were all delicious, and had a sweet/tart slightly minty flavor.
I'll definitely be back, but next will be to try the other 2 experiences!
Have you been to Undertow in Phoenix?
